Swallows Oast Wedding Photography.

Simon and Malin’s Swallows Oast wedding was an absolute belter.  I wasn’t really sure what to expect of my first Swedish style wedding, but the emotional and humorous touches made it a fabulous wedding to capture and a real pleasure to be a part of.

The day started with ‘getting ready’ shots with Malin and her 3 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls in Royal Tunbridge Wells.  The morning bridal shots are always a lovely part of the day as emotions and excitement run in equally high measure – It was the usual whirlwind of hair, makeup, music and dresses as the magic comes together, with today being especially touching as Malin gave her bridesmaids very personal gifts to thank them and remind them of the day.

Simon looked equally dapper with his Ushers in matching suits, only looking a little apprehensive in the church.  Outside the wind was blustering as guests arrived in a fabulous London styled bus.

After the ceremony we dashed back to Swallows Oast before guests arrived in order to capture some newlywed shots and ensure Simon and Malin did not miss out on their wedding reception drinks and canapés.  Fighting the threat of rain we captured some beautiful shots for their album.

Swedish weddings traditionally have lots of speeches.  I counted 7 for Simon and Malin, delivered from loved ones and making the day entirely unique.  After the speeches, as is also traditional in Sweden, male guests are invited to kiss the bride, creating some embarrassment for the younger boys.  Their were more games  as the evening rolled on, including a Mr and Mrs style quiz where the bride and groom answer questions by raising each others shoes.

As the light started to fade we nipped outside to the gorgeous settings at Swallows Oast and captured a final few couple shots before the party really kicked in.  This was a stunning wedding to capture and a real pleasure to get to know Simon and Malin.

Special thanks to my fellow photographer on the day and good friend Ben Toms.

Enjoy.
