One of my top tips for couples marrying here is to plan time for golden hour portraits along the riverbank. As the sun sets behind the trees, the light softens to a warm glow that’s incredibly flattering and cinematic. A short walk down to the jetty or the riverside gardens gives you a moment of calm together — and the resulting photographs are always some of the most cherished.

Consider an Outdoor Ceremony

Voco Oxford Thames offers beautiful outdoor ceremony options. The Riverside Pergola is particularly popular for summer weddings, framed by lush greenery and views of the Thames. If you love the idea of natural light and open-air vows, this space is well worth exploring. Just remember to have a weather contingency plan — the British climate can be unpredictable!

Embrace the Venue’s Heritage

The venue’s medieval buildings, with their vaulted ceilings and original beams, bring a sense of history to your celebration. The Little Barn and the Conservatory are both characterful spaces for your reception.
