Top Ten Buckinghamshire Wedding Venues
I’m a documentary wedding photographer who lives in Buckinghamshire and so naturally I capture a lot of weddings in the county. Unsurprisingly I often get asked by couples about the best wedding venues in Buckinghamshire to get married at so I pulled together my list of the top ten Buckinghamshire wedding venues.
Although I have written this primarily based on the aesthetics and impact the venues have on your wedding photography, I’d like to think that I also have a good feel for the quality of the wedding teams at the venue, the atmosphere and intimacy the venues lend to your day and experience your guests have.
My Top Ten Buckinghamshire Wedding Venues
Their are certainly some fabulous venues to choose from in Buckinghamshire with the county being blessed with rolling parkland, vistas, country houses, hotels and mansions, and as Buckinghamshire wedding photographer I feel blessed to have them on my doorstep. My list of top ten Buckinghamshire wedding venues is hopefully a useful tool to help you choose your venue.

Buckinghamshire Wedding Photography Testimonial
The wedding photos were stunning!
When we first met Damion on Skype, I couldn’t believe how friendly and down to Earth he was. We just felt like we knew him already, and were just so excited for him to be our photographer.
Our engagement shoot was cold and windy, but he was patient and persistent. We got some amazing shots and we’re so happy with them.
The wedding photos were stunning! He just made us look happy, captured all those important moments, and it was fun and relaxed. The fireworks and sparklers were magical shots.
A lot of his work has come after the wedding, where he has been able to deal with all my annoying requests and produced a beautiful wedding album. He puts in a lot of effort into his work and we couldn’t have chosen a more perfect photographer! Very highly recommended.
Hedsor House
Top of my Top Ten Buckinghamshire Wedding Venues is Hedsor House, where I shot one of my first ever weddings. To this day I still get excited about shooting at Hedsor. From the stunning house and it’s traditional splendour, to the magnificent parkland. Hedsor House offers stunning wedding photography and a feeling of escapism a stone throws from London. The imposing dome roof, balcony and private gardens offer plenty of opportunity to capture amazing newlywed images, and with enough space for guests to stay in and keep dry or spill out onto the lawn and enjoy canapés.
This quintessentially English manor house has an excellent wedding team behind it, caring and ensuring that everything works like clockwork, as well as cooking up some awesome food in the kitchen.
Stoke Place
Just 30 minutes outside London, Stoke Place is another of my favourite Buckinghamshire wedding venues. I’ve had the pleasure to shoot here and write a review for The English Wedding Blog on this amazing venue.
Inside this 17th century mansion you’re greeted with sweeping staircases, chandeliers, huge bay windows and a stunning parkland. The grounds are a good place to start for both wedding portraits, formal shots and newlywed photography, with it’s serene lake and mature grounds making a beautiful canvas for your day.
I like to make use of the bridal suite for getting ready photographs of the bride and her bridesmaids, with the large light filled windows offering a flattering and intimate reflection on the morning proceedings.
The wedding rooms are spacious and enormously flexible, I’m always surprised at how individual and unique each bride and groom are able to make Stoke Place. The team are attentive and professional, solving any snags with minimal fuss and focussed on making sure you have the best wedding day. Oh and the food is exquisite!
With accommodation available in the mansion and in the herb garden area their is no excuse for a good knee’s up, which is why I’m happy to recommend this in my top ten of Buckinghamshire wedding venues.
Kings Chapel
Kings Chapel is a stones throw from my studio in Amersham and is a hidden gem in the list of top ten Buckinghamshire wedding venues. The venue boasts a stunning domed main hall and rooms adorned with glittering chandeliers to give you a classical and romantic feel to your wedding day celebrations.
This is quite a unique venue, the main hall has an original pulpit from before the restoration when the venue was a church, as well as a mezzanine gallery. Plus, their is outside space for beautiful photography in the private walled garden. Old Amersham is a quaint and beautiful part of the Chiltern countryside and coupled with Kings Chapel makes the perfect location for a summer, rustic or vintage style wedding.
DeVere Horwood Estate
Punching well up my list of top ten Buckinghamshire wedding venues is the De Vere Horwood Estate in Milton Keynes. It’s fabulous tree lined driveway sweeps you up to the country house giving a sense of grandeur and impact to your wedding day (and makes for some fabulous newlywed shots).
It’s not surprising that they’ve been shortlisted for the Best Country Venue, as this 20th century manor house offers both the flexibility for indoor and outdoor weddings, with 38 acres of beautiful gardens, including a pretty wedding pagoda for those wanting an outside ceremony.
De Vere Horwood Estate offer a dedicated wedding planning team to take some of the strain away from planning the big day yourself, and with such an accessible location and main line trains regularly running into Milton Keynes Central, it makes for a perfect wedding venue.
Heatherden Hall at Pinewood
Heatherden Hall is completely unique and the only wedding venue I know that is set within a film studio. Boasting stately rooms, spectacular gardens, ornamental bridges and a secret cave, this stunning wedding venue inside Pinewood Studios is a photographers dream with so many opportunities to make great images.
If you’re a film buff then Pinewood Studios will need no introduction, producing classics from Chitty Chitty Bank Bang, Oliver Twist, Great Expectations and almost all of the Bond movies. The Hitchcock Suite delivers impact to your wedding photography with an impressive fireplace, French windows and spectacular views of the stunning grounds.
De Vere Latimer Estate
The second of the DeVere hotel collection to make my top ten Buckinghamshire wedding venues, the DeVere Latimer boasts a secret background having been a key part of the military intelligence during World War II.
The DeVere Latimer can hold up to 200 guests in it’s Cavendish Suite which overlooks the Chess Valley and of course the manicured gardens of the mansion house. This venue has the added flexibility of both being licensed for civil ceremonies and only a short stroll to St Mary Magdalene Church inside the estate grounds.
With accommodation available at the DeVere Latimer and a strong wedding team working at the venue you can be sure you and your guests will be well looked after by the dedicated wedding co-ordinators. You can read more about weddings at De Vere Latimer Estate here.
Chicheley Hall
Chicheley Hall is an elegant Grade I listed mansion in a secluded location, yet within close proximity to the M1 and fast trains into London. This stunning mansion dates back to 1700’s and is an impressive location to get married. It’s probably best suited to a more intimate wedding, holding up to 80 guests for the civil ceremony, but able to cater for 150 for the wedding breakfast.
From a wedding photography perspective the grounds offer great opportunities to capture newlywed shots, the sweeping staircase with huge windows offer lovely light for the bride coming down the stairs and the long driveway makes for an impressive opening shot for any album.
Danesfield House
This luxury hotel in Marlow is the stuff of fairytale weddings and easily one of my favourites on my list of top ten Buckinghamshire wedding venues. Wedding photographers often talk a lot about venues and their grounds and at Danesfield House you are spoilt with breathtaking surroundings.
With exclusive use of the venue for your wedding day, guests can enjoy the 65 acres of grounds while you stroll through the venue and capture some amazing wedding photography.
Danesfield House gets great reviews for it’s food and organisation, and rightly so as the wedding team here work exceptionally hard to make sure you and your guests have a fabulous day.
Chenies Manor
This 13th century Tudor Mansion house will give your wedding a glimpse of history as well providing a beautiful backdrop. A grade I listed building boasting award winning gardens, a medieval well, a dungeon and a priest hole!
Surrounded by the beautiful Chiltern Hills, Chenies Manor offers a stunning vista across the Chess Valley, alongside some gardens and grounds that will make your wedding images uniquely intimate, with pagodas, secret gardens, immaculate lawns and stunning flower displays.
Stoke Park
Last but not at all least on my top ten Buckinghamshire wedding venues is Stoke Park, a stunning venue set in 300 acres of parkland and surrounded by landscaped gardens and lakes. The mansion house is over 200 years old and makes for a grand and stunning location for your wedding day.
Stoke Park is fabulous for photography offering so many wonderful opportunities across the grounds, including stunning staircases, chandeliers, water features, lakes and bridges. This venue really is stunning and will deliver you some stunning wedding images and lots of smiles from your guests.
As with most wedding venues these days the venue comes with it’s own dedicated wedding co-ordinator, but unique to Stoke Place is the 5AA Red Star rating, ensuring your day will be romantic, luxurious and unique.
Their are so many stunning wedding venues in my home county of Buckinghamshire and I’ve been lucky enough to shoot at many of them. Each wedding is unique and I try to bring my own documentary style to each, capturing natural, elegant and unique images for you to cherish.
