This uber cool wedding at the Walpole Bay Hotel in Kent was great a great day to capture. I second shot the day for a fellow photographer and started the morning with the groom before we headed to the ceremony at a beautiful church near to the coast.
After the ceremony guests headed to the beach for reception drinks and games. The sun was out and the view across the coastline was outstanding, definitely one of the coolest wedding reception locations this year.
After the reception guests made their way to the Walpole Hotel, which is more a museum than a hotel, whisking you back in time to a bygone era. The hotel is a living museum which engulfs the entire hotel and makes for an intriguing stay.
An uber cool wedding day, with some fun wedding day games
Walpole Bay Hotel is one of those rare wedding venues that feels like stepping into a beautifully eccentric time capsule — full of charm, character, and stories in every corner. Nestled above the sweeping shores of Margate, this Edwardian treasure isn’t your standard cookie-cutter venue — it’s a living museum, a family-run haven, and a wedding backdrop like no other.
What makes Walpole Bay unique isn’t just the sea views or the vintage lift with a mind of its own — it’s the atmosphere. There’s a sense of faded grandeur here, of history and warmth woven into every patterned carpet and creaking floorboard.
