Sonata & Linus | Moor Park Mansion Wedding

After 12 years together, Sonata and Linus decided it was finally time to tie the knot. Rather than planning a large celebration, they chose something beautifully simple. An intimate wedding at Moor Park Mansion in Hertfordshire, surrounded by just three of the people closest to them.

Their wedding took place on Sunday 18th October 2026, with their best friends and Sonata’s mother joining them for a wonderfully personal occasion.

With its magnificent architecture, elegant interiors and gardens full of autumn colour, Moor Park provided a beautiful setting for a wedding that was as understated as it was special.

I’m Damion, a Buckinghamshire-based wedding photographer, and I had the pleasure of photographing their day, from bridal preparations in the Manor Suite through to their ceremony in the Thornhill Room, group photographs and portraits around the mansion and gardens.

It was a lovely reminder that a wedding doesn’t need to be a large celebration to be incredibly meaningful.

MOOR PARK MANSION WEDDING

Bridal preparations in the Manor Suite

I joined Sonata in the Manor Suite at Moor Park Mansion, on the grounds of Moor Park Golf Club, as she got ready for the ceremony.

There’s something lovely about the atmosphere of a small wedding. Without the bustle of a large bridal party or a packed schedule, there’s time to enjoy the anticipation and those quieter moments before the ceremony.

My approach to bridal preparations is always relaxed and unobtrusive. I prefer to let things unfold naturally, capturing the details, expressions and interactions that tell the story of the morning.

The elegant surroundings of the Manor Suite provided a beautiful setting for the start of Sonata and Linus’s wedding day.

A personal ceremony in the Thornhill Room

The ceremony took place in the Thornhill Room at Moor Park Mansion, with just five people present, including Sonata and Linus.

After sharing 12 years together, this was a lovely moment for them both. No enormous guest list or elaborate production, just two people making their commitment to one another, surrounded by the people who mattered most.

Intimate weddings have a character all of their own. With so few people in the room, every expression and interaction feels particularly meaningful.

As a documentary wedding photographer, these are the moments I particularly enjoy capturing. The genuine expressions, the emotion and the interactions between people who know each other so well.

Rather than directing the occasion, my aim is simply to observe and photograph the story as it naturally unfolds.

Wedding Portraits at Moor Park Mansion

Following the ceremony, we captured a small collection of group photographs before spending some time exploring the mansion and gardens for Sonata and Linus’s couple portraits.

Moor Park is a wonderful venue for wedding photography, with an impressive variety of settings within a relatively short distance.

We began on the mezzanine balcony overlooking the magnificent main hall. It’s a beautiful location for portraits, with the architecture and scale of the mansion creating an elegant backdrop.

From there, we moved to the grand staircase, one of the most striking features of Moor Park Mansion.

I always aim to make couple portraits feel relaxed and enjoyable. A little gentle direction is sometimes all that’s needed, allowing couples to be themselves while making the most of the surroundings.

For me, the best wedding portraits are elegant and considered, but never feel overly posed.

Autumn wedding photography in the gardens at Moor Park

Our final photographs took us outside into the gardens, where the October colours were looking particularly beautiful.

Autumn brings a lovely warmth to wedding photography, with the changing leaves creating a rich backdrop of colour and texture.

We made the most of the gardens, incorporating the magnificent mansion into the background of several photographs.

It’s one of my favourite approaches when photographing weddings at historic venues. Rather than simply placing a couple in front of a beautiful building, I like to use the architecture and landscape as part of the composition, creating photographs that feel natural while giving a real sense of place.

An intimate wedding lunch in the Grosvenor Room

With the ceremony, group photographs and couple portraits complete, it was time for Sonata and Linus to join their guests for lunch in the Grosvenor Room.

I left them as they sat down to enjoy the rest of their celebration together.

It was a lovely way to finish my coverage of a wedding that had been wonderfully personal from beginning to end.

After 12 years together, Sonata and Linus had chosen to celebrate their marriage in a way that felt entirely right for them.

And sometimes, that’s all a wedding really needs.

My experience photographing weddings at Moor Park Mansion

One of the things I particularly enjoyed about photographing Sonata and Linus’s wedding was the variety of beautiful locations available within the mansion and its grounds.

The mezzanine balcony overlooking the main hall provides a wonderful perspective for portraits, while the grand staircase offers something more classical and elegant.

Outside, the landscaped gardens provide a softer, more natural setting, with the historic mansion creating a magnificent backdrop.

Having these different locations so close together is a real advantage when photographing a wedding at Moor Park. It allows me to create a varied collection of portraits without taking couples away from their guests for too long.

For me, that’s an important part of wedding photography. Creating beautiful photographs should never come at the expense of enjoying your wedding day.

My approach combines natural documentary photography with a small number of elegant editorial portraits, allowing couples to enjoy their wedding while I capture the genuine moments and atmosphere.
