Great Fosters Summer Wedding

Louise and Simon tied the knot at the stunning Great Fosters wedding venue in Surrey, overlooking the houses gorgeous landscaped gardens and parkland.

It’s a great place for wedding photography with so many unique and creative opportunities to make lovely images. On the day we made good use of the Japanese bridge with its Wisteria and in the evening we lit up the sunken rose garden for an alternative evening portrait.

Louise and Simon’s Great Fosters Summer Wedding:

Louise and Simon’s wedding was a beautifully fun day, blending Greek and English traditions as they tied the knot in the sunshine, a little rain and a rainbow.

Bridal Preparation:

Louise was going through bridal preparation at her family home. When I arrived it was already a busy house with bridesmaids, nieces and nephews, brothers and parents busily arranging everything for the day.

During the course of the morning more and more of Louise’s family arrived awaiting the bride to appear, catching up on family stories and grazing on food and wine.

When Louise eventually came downstairs to meet her family, she was greeted with a violinist and an over-joyed extended family keen to take turns in kissing her.

The Ceremony:

When I caught up with Simon he was grabbing some quiet time, memorising his vows in the Orangery at Great Fosters, where the ceremony was taking place. This is a stunning room with floor to ceiling windows and doors overlooking the gardens. It’s filled with light and makes for beautiful photographs as the bride walks down the aisle to meet her soon to be husband.

The Reception & Party:

As guests poured out into the gardens to soak up some sun and sip champagne, Louise and Simon snuck off with me for 25 minutes of newlywed photographs in the grounds. We were back before the happy couple had missed anything, giving me plenty of time to catch candid photographs of guests enjoying the day.

The wedding breakfast was held in the Tithe Barn, before guests made their way back to the Orangery for some serious Greek dancing. The floor was full most of the night as Louise celebrated the Kalamatiano (where the bride stands in the middle of the floor and female guests (and some male) dance around her.

Not to be out done Simon and Louises brother took to the floor for some serious leg kicking and knee bending as they performed their dance.

A special thank you to Deji Johnson who ably assisted me on the day.

This Great Fosters wedding was a beautiful day and a delight to capture. If you’re looking for a documentary wedding photographer for your wedding you can check my availability here.
